This skull niche is part of the Goldene Kammer in the Basilica of St. Ursula in Cologne, Germany. The photo is mine, taken July 2015 when I had the pleasure of visiting. I love how they are all delicately covered with brocade, as though they are shy of being seen, or intensely private.
